Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and General Motors is giving back in many ways, including a matching effort to those who take advantage of service deals.

Customers who bring their vehicle to Team Auto Group of Salisbury for qualifying services in October can contribute part or all of their rebates... and Chevrolet will match them, up to a total of $150,000.

For example, here are a few specials offered here at TEAM:
  • $39.95 oil and filter change, tire rotation and 27-multi-point inspection is $29.95 after the $10 mail-in rebate
  • $99.95 (per axle) ACDelco Durastop ceramic brake pads service is $74.95 after the $25 mail-in rebate
For more information, click on the link: Certified Service Rebates.

And here's a look at the Camaro SS pace car that TEAM saw at the Charlotte Southern Women's Show.

Here's more info on what Chevrolet is doing to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research:

DETROIT  Chevrolet and General Motors employees, dealers and customers are again uniting against breast cancer, hoping to exceed the nearly $1.1 million raised by the American Cancer Society in 2011 through Chevrolet’s nationwide grassroots support of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks and other activities.

This October’s events include employee- and dealership-sponsored fund-raising walks; a Chevrolet Certified Service matching rebate contribution program; appearances by a specially themed pink Camaro SS pace car and USAC National Midget Car; and test-drive contributions at selected Southern Women’s Shows. Additional Chevrolet activities will be announced in October.
The towers of GM’s Renaissance Center world headquarters in Detroit will once again be lit with bands of pink to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Even the all-new Chevrolet Spark will join in the fight. A special “Pink Out” Spark is designed to honor breast cancer survivors and supporters. It wears a production Techno Pink exterior finish and is embellished with custom pink elements inside and out. The “Pink Out” Spark will visit selected community walks throughout the month.
Last year with Chevrolet’s support, the American Cancer Society raised $1,079,633 in contributions to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. The money helps fund research, wellness and breast cancer awareness education, and support for breast cancer patients and their families.
“The generosity of our employees, dealers and customers shows how everyday heroes can unite to make a difference in eradicating a disease impacting 1.5 million people,” said Don Johnson, vice president, Chevrolet Sales and Service. “For the second year, we are committed to support the American Cancer Society in continuing its fight for more birthdays.”
Johnson will lead Chevrolet’s involvement in Detroit’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk that begins at 9 a.m. Oct. 13 in downtown Detroit.
“The American Cancer Society is thrilled to have the support of Chevrolet and General Motors nationwide to help us lead the fight against breast cancer,” said Jill Elder, vice president, American Cancer Society, Great Lakes Division. “One in every two women newly diagnosed with breast cancer reaches out to the American Cancer Society for support. The contributions of General Motors and Chevrolet help make it possible to do the most for people with breast cancer today and enable us to continue the great work we’re doing to find cures to end the disease tomorrow.”

Way to go, TEAM!

Wow, Team Chevrolet is really working hard this year! We had a meeting yesterday (Wednesday) and learned that we are the top-selling dealership in the county! Not only are we the top dealer, we learned a few other amazing things about our dealership that raise the bar for the others around us:

  • Used vehicle sales are up 111 units over the same period in 2011, a 48% increase!
  • Collision center RO's are up 21% over the same period in 2011!
  • Parts Sales are up $50,000 over the same period in 2011!
  • The battle for the highest in sales between service and collision is on and getting tighter. Through five months there is only $15,000 separating the two departments!
Team Chevrolet also recognized a few employees for their time and dedication to the business.

Rory Blevins was congratulated for 10 years of service in the collision department, on his actual 10-year anniversary! Congrats, Rory, and thanks for all of your dedication to Team!

Danny Carver was congratulated for his 10 years of service in the detail department. He began work at Team May 30, 2002. Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication, Danny!

Salesman Nat Venning and Fleet Salesman Robin Koon were also recognized for their hard work with General Motors and Team, and will be receiving diamond rings through General Motor's Mark of Excellence program.

Thom Dillard, owner of Team, spoke about his experience at a training at Disneyworld, and encouraged us to adopt Disney's customer service principles. General Manager David Coltrane led the meeting and got us pretty pumped, ready to work to maintain our number one spot!

10 Safest Small Cars in America... we have them!

If you're looking for a safe car, look at Team Auto Group.

For 2012, General Motors has four of the safest cars in the United States: the Buick Verano; Chevrolet Cruze; Chevrolet Sonic; and Chevrolet Volt. And the Sonic and Cruze start at under $20,000.

Ten cars were chosen as the safest in America, from a list of 35, with General Motors taking up nearly 50% of the top 10 list... we think that's a pretty incredible accomplishment.

This luxury-oriented adaptation of the compact Chevrolet Cruze sedan packs no less than 10 airbags, including knee-height airbags for the driver and front passenger and seat-mounted airbags for rear riders. Also standard is General Motors’ OnStar safety/communications system that automatically engages to seek assistance if a crash occurs. - Forbes.com

Feeling more upscale than most compact cars, the Cruze is a solid choice for those who want to downsize their rides. In addition to the basics, the Cruze includes 10 standard airbags, including rear seat-mounted and front knee-height airbags. Also included is the OnStar communications/safety system that features automatic crash notification. - Forbes.com

All new for 2012 the Chevy Sonic is a sophisticated and engaging subcompact car. Like the larger Cruze with which it shares powertrains and other components it comes with 10 airbags, including rear seat-mounted and front knee-height airbags, along with the OnStar communications/safety system that automatically calls for assistance in the event of a collision. - Forbes.com

Though at over $39,000 it's costly for what amounts to a compact car, the Volt is an "extended range electric vehicle" that can run for around 40 miles on a charge before a small gas engine takes over to run a generator. It’s officially rated at a combined gas/electric 94 mpg, Knee-height airbags for the driver and front passenger are included, along with the OnStar safety/communications system that affords automatic crash notification. - Forbes.com

Cadillac ATS and Buick Encore unveiled at Detroit Auto Show

What Cadillac is calling its "most important launch," the 2013 Cadillac ATS was revealed this week at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.

The ATS is "truly setting us off on a path to be the best of the best," Don Butler said, vice president of marketing for Cadillac, who also called the reveal of the ATS a "hallmark of Cadillac."

Check out the video of the reveal here:

Here's a photo of the reveal...

Another thing that sets apart the ATS from its competitor's compact luxury sedans is Cadillac's CUE system - Cadillac User Experience - that "pairs entertainment and information data from up to 10 Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices, USBs, SD cards and MP3 players with a vehicle infotainment system that reduces complexity through customized information, voice commands and fewer buttons and larger icons. For example, most of today's luxury cars have around 20 buttons controlling the radio and entertainment functions... CUE only has four," according to GM's website.

The ATS also will get more than 30 mpg highway, including grille shutters that close at certain highway speeds to reduce drag. LED lighting will light up the interior of the ATS, that includes real wooden trim, and the door handle will also light up.

These are just a few of the amazing features of the 2013 Cadillac ATS, which is to hit dealerships this summer. Everyone here at Team Auto Group of Salisbury can't wait to see it in person.

****************
The 2013 Buick Encore, a small crossover that seats five, has 48.4 cubic feet of storage as the front passenger seat is able to fold flat, along with the back seat. The Encore is capable of all wheel drive, come standard with 10 air bags, and has an Ecotec 1.4 liter turbo 4-cylinder powertrain. There is also a Bluetooth or USB hookup for your phone or other electronic device to be displayed on the 7-inch LCD screen. Navigation and rear cameras are also available, along with heated seats and steering wheel.

Other options include remote start, rainsense wipers, Bose sound system, driver memory seat, and, quiet-tuning reduction of sounds.

The Buick Encore won't be available until early 2013, but everyone here at Team Auto Group of Salisbury is ready to see it and drive it. It kind of reminds us of a bigger Chevy Sonic. What do you think?

GM enhancing Chevy Volt following investigation

General Motors has decided to enhance the vehicle structure and battery coolant systems in Chevy Volts, a move that will further protect the battery. The enhancements will protect the battery from catching fire days or weeks after a severe crash.

The following changes (from GM's website) include external and internal battery protection:

  • "Strengthen an existing portion of the Volt's vehicle safety structure to further protect the battery pack in a severe side collision
  • Add a sensor in the reservoir of the battery coolant system to monitor coolant levels
  • Add a tamper-resistant bracket to the top of the battery coolant reservoir to help prevent potential coolant overfill"
"The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) began its preliminary evaluation on Nov. 25 following a severe-impact lab test on a battery pack that resulted in an electrical fire six days later," GM stated on its website. "The test was conducted to reproduce a coolant leak that occurred in a full-scale vehicle crash test last May that resulted in an electrical fire three weeks later."

Through the first 11 months of 2011, Volt owners drove nearly 20 million miles without an incident similar to the outcome of the tests.

"The Volt has always been safe to drive," Mary Barra said, GM senior vice president of Global Product Development. "Now, we will go the extra mile to ensure our customers' peace of mind in the days and weeks following a severe crash."

Of the enhancements being added, Barra said there are no changes to the Volt battery pack or cell chemistry.

"We have tested the Volt's battery system for more than 285,000 hours, or 25 years, of operation," Barra said. "We're as confident as ever that the cell design is among the safest on the market."

Volt customers will be individually notified when the modifications are available for their vehicles.

Team Auto Group of Salisbury currently has three Volts... come take one for a test drive!

Chevy Sonic earns five-star safety rating

The Chevy Sonic - both sedan and hatchback models - earned five-star safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration this week. A five-star rating is the highest possible rating a vehicle can receive after frontal and side crash tests and rollover resistance training.

The Chevy Sonic comes standard with 10 airbags - front, side and curtain - stability and traction control, and a heavy-duty steel frame. More features are listed below via General Motors.

Come to Team Auto Group today and test drive a sedan or hatchback model. We have a variety of colors available - red, orange, gray, black... and some fully loaded, some basic. You can also call and make an appointment to come out and see one - 704-216-8000.

From GM:

The Sonic is designed to help drivers avoid crashes, while protecting occupants in a crash. Sonic offers an exceptionally strong body structure through the incorporation of a single welded side ring unit and more than 60 percent of the vehicle safety cage consisting of high-strength steel. Other standard safety features include:
  • Driver and front passenger dual-stage frontal air bags, seat-mounted side pelvic/thorax air bags, knee air bags and head curtain side air bags with rollover protection that cover front and outboard rear seating rows. The Sonic also has side impact air bags in the outboard rear seating positions for a total of ten standard air bags.
  • Rollover sensors, which can activate the head-curtain side air bags if sensors determine an imminent rollover. In a rollover, the air bags stay inflated longer to provide increased occupant protection.
  • StabiliTrak electronic stability control helps the driver maintain control by comparing the path being steered by the driver with the actual response and, when necessary, applying the brakes or adjusting the throttle or a combination of both.
  • Power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes with ABS, full-function traction control and panic brake assist that activates when an emergency braking maneuver is detected. The system automatically develops additional brake pressure to more quickly engage ABS
  • Front safety belt pretensioners to reduce forward occupant movement and load-limiting retractors to help manage forces during a collision
  • OnStar, which features the Automatic Crash Response System that uses GPS and cellular phone technology to automatically call for help in the event that a crash is detected.
Starting with 2011 models, NHTSA introduced tougher tests and more rigorous requirements for its 5-star ratings that provide more information about safety feature performance and crash-avoidance technologies. Changes included a new side pole test simulating a 20-mph side-impact crash into a 10-inch-diameter pole or tree at a 75-degree angle just behind the A-pillar on the driver’s side.
